Kids learning to use the 3D printer at the Downtown Public Library

Summer 2014 is almost here and with that comes a whole lot of awesome for kids, tweens, and teens at the Chattanooga Public Library.  This summer, our MAKE. PLAY. READ. LEARN program will give your family of makers and readers a chance to create and learn all summer long at every branch.

To kick things off, our libraries will be hosting day-long events and activities on Saturday May 17th, 2014 where you can sign up for Summer @ ChattLibrary and pick up our gameboard filled with great activities and challenges. If you can't make it to the events that day, online registration will begin Saturday morning at 9am!


The 2nd Floor at the Downtown Library

  • 10am-5pm: Games, challenges, crafts, activities and even a few science experiments. 
  • 11:30am: Special guests from the Chattanooga Zoo will join us with lots of wild animals.  
  • 1pm-3pm: Tween and Teen Doctor Who themed bash. Join us to Build a Bow Tie, Fashion a Fez, pose in our Photo booth with a REAL Tardis, play Don't Blink with a Weeping Angel and DRIVE A DALEK! 
  • 4:15pm: Jag the Reading Dog will be hanging out on the 2nd Floor, just waiting for you to come and read to him. 


Eastgate Library

  • 10am-5pm: Games, crafts and activities. 
  • 2pm and 3:15pm: Creative Discovery Museum will present "Rockin' with Rocks (And Minerals)," 
  • Teens and Tweens can enjoy playtime on the Wii and check out the gadgets in our new Teen/Tween area.


Northgate Library

  • 10am-5pm: Crafts, games and face painting just for kids! Join the fun at the creation stations and disco dance party.  Teens can participate in science experiments, wacky challenges, MAKE buttons, bracelets, and more; PLAY card games like YuGiOh!
  • 2pm: Chief Meteorologist Patrick Core will make a special guest appearance and weather presentation. 


South Chattanooga Library

  • 11am: Baby Bounce
  • 11:30am: Duplo Maker Club. 
  • 2pm: Patricia Balloona , a Chattanooga balloon (and fun) expert will visit!
  • 3pm: Tween Origami Yoda Book Club
