Summer 2014: The Chattanooga Public Library is presenting a new series of free LiSTEM workshops this summer.
LiSTEM is literacy-based learning through STEM concepts: Literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Your tweens, teens and kiddos will have a great time during these interactive project-based workshops.
Each workshop offers multiple sessions that builds upon the previous session, designed to capture your child's imagination and attention in a fun and focused summertime learning environment.
Heads up! Registration is required for all of the LiSTEM workshops. Space is limited so please use the registration links provided below if you're interested.
Because this is project-based learning it is essential that all learning workshops are attended consecutively to fully complete the series. Participants must be in attendance for the 1st session of each workshop they are participating in to be ready to proceed to other sessions. Guess what? It's a lot more fun that way too.
JULY 2014 LiSTEM WORKSHOPS AT THE CHATTANOOGA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Electrifying Young Engineers:
Do you like electronics and energy? Wonder how they work together? Become an Electrifying Engineer Apprentice and learn how to make electric lamps, explore electromagnetism, the various components of batteries, and solar energy. This workshop will be offered on the 4th Floor of the Downtown Branch on Mondays from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on July 7th, 14th, and 21st. Register now.
Electronics Engineering for Tweens:
Electronics Engineering for Tweens is a project workshop focused on connectivity of mini circuit parts and gadgets used to create bigger inventions. Circuit-boards with specific functions are engineered to snap together with magnets to make larger circuits. Learn how light, sound, sensors, buttons, thresholds, pulse and motors work together for prototyping, learning and fun! Get creative and let’s build together! This workshop will be offered on Tuesdays on the 4th Floor at the Downtown Branch from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on July 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th. Register now.
