Hoopla Service Change Announcement
Effective May 2018 The monthly checkout limit for Hoopla digital will be reduced from 10 per user to 5 per user. We understand this is a disappointing change, but it is necessary due to the overwhelming demand of the Hoopla service.
Hoopla is a pay-per-use service, and as such, any time a patron checks out an item the Library pays a fee. As Hoopla has become a more popular service the charges have become unsustainable.
We are continuously exploring new material and services, and already have some options that may have the title you are seeking, and do not have a pay-per-use charge:
The library's Resources page has many different options for learning and entertainment, and they're all free with your library card!
One of these great resources is Hoopla Digital.
With Hoopla, you can stream or temporarily download up to 5 movies, episodes of TV shows, audiobooks, and musical albums per month all from the comfort of home! All you need is a library card, email address, and a computer or mobile device.
You'll never have to wait your turn for a particular title; everything is available for checkout instantly! Hoopla automatically removes expired titles so you'll never be charged a late fee. Movies and TV episodes check out for 3 days, music for 7 days, and audiobooks for 21 days.
With Hoopla, you'll find books, videos, and music for the whole family with popular movies like Curious George, The Iron Lady, and books from Veronica Roth, Danielle Steel and more! Music selections include current artists like Ariana Grande and Lorde as well as classical music and genres including folk, hip-hop, blues, dance, country, and Christian and gospel.
To get started, visit www.hoopladigital.com and create an account by clicking the sign-up button on the home page. Select your library and fill in your library card number. You won't need to enter your PIN number. Next, you'll enter your email address and create a password. When you come back to sign in to use Hoopla, you'll log in with your email and password, not your library card.
If you have a mobile device such as a smartphone or tablet, download the app from your device's app store. Hoopla has an Android and an iOS app. With a mobile device, you'll be able to either download your material or stream it. If you're using a computer instead, you will be streaming rather than downloading, so you'll need an internet connection the whole time you enjoy your checkouts.
