Memoirs Matter with Peggy Roblyer (Middle School-Adults)

In honor of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), the Eastgate Library invites you to an inspiring and practical presentation on writing your life story.

Join author and retired educational technology professor Peggy Roblyer, whose memoir, Strong Glass, is forthcoming in 2026—for an essential session on crafting a memoir.

Peggy will cover key steps, including:

  • Memoir vs. Autobiography: Understanding the critical difference in scope and structure.
  • Exploring Sub-Genres: Practical examples to help you find your unique style.
  • The Publishing Decision: Crucial factors to consider when deciding whether and how to publish your personal story.

 

About Peggy Roblyer:

M. D. (Peggy) Roblyer [she/her], retired professor of educational technology. authored a dozen
Pearson Education textbooks, including Integrating Educational Technology into Teaching,
which introduced a novel approach to the field in 1996 and became its bestselling text; it remains
the field leader today in ninth edition. Strong Glass: A Memoir of Escaping the Dark Mirror of
Family History is her first nonacademic book; she is at work on another. Some of her nonfiction
work has been published by Orange Blossom Books, Bewildering Stories, TrashLight Press, and
Bright Flash Literary Review. Two of her stories are Chattanooga Writer’s Guild contest-
winners; one appears in the Chattanooga Writer’s Guild Fall 2025 Anthology; another appears
online at its website.
