Piano Fun for Everyone
February 7 @ 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM
An event every week that begins at 4:00pm on Thursday, repeating until February 28, 2019
This class is for beginners, led by UTC Keyboard Area Coordinator Dr. Lynn Worcester Jones, and will have you playing piano in no time! For eight weeks, you will learn how to read piano music, play chords and simple melodies. Starts January 10, 2019 and meets on Thursdays from 4:00-4:45 pm at the Chattanooga Public Library. Children ages 8 and up are welcome to participate.
This class is brought to you in partnership with the Chattanooga Public Library and UTC
Department of Performing Arts.
Music has the ability to exercise both sides of the brain and soothe the body and soul. This class is an opportunity for children over age 8 to divert their energy from the every-day stresses to learn the fundamentals of playing the piano and potentially relieve stress through music making. This course is intended as a fun music activity, encouraging Chattanooga’s youth to come as they are, ranging anywhere from little to no preparation to active, daily practice outside of class meetings. Participants are not required to own a piano or electric keyboard in their home.
Dr. Lynn Worcester is Assistant Professor, Keyboard Area Coordinator at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she teaches piano instruction, survey of piano repertoire, piano ensemble, and musicianship lab.
