Sew What Saturday: Shibori & Indigo Dye

September 14 @ 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Join us for a hands-on workshop in which we will be exploring the art form of dyeing natural fibers in an indigo vat, and basic shibori folding and binding techniques. During this workshop, we will discuss the process of creating your own indigo vat, and then you will prepare the materials to fold, bind, and dye your very own design into a natural fiber. By the end of the workshop, you will be amazed by the wonderful, one-of-a-kind indigo creation!

The indigo vats, natural fibers, shibori binding tools, and information will all be provided. You may bring one small item of your own to dye, which must be of a natural fiber such as cotton or silk– please no large items like bed sheets or fabric yardage. Dress for mess as indigo is a permanent dye!  This workshop is designed for ages 10 and up and will be held on the outside lawn of the Downtown Public Library, weather permitting.*

Join us in exploring these timeless fiber traditions!

*In the event of inclement weather, this workshop will move indoors to the 4th Floor event space.
