Upcycled Fashion Show
April 5 @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
An event every week that begins at 4:00 PM on Friday, repeating until April 28, 2019
One event on April 27, 2019 at 3:00 PM
Are you into fashion, art, and saving the environment? Would you like to design and make clothing with recycled material? Join us at the Eastgate Library for our Upcycled Fashion Program, where we will learn about textile waste and the importance of recycling. You can sketch your clothing ideas and bring them to life by using materials that would normally be thrown away. Then, we will have an Upcycled Fashion Show on April 27th at 3pm open to the general public to show off your masterpiece, and get some free publicity.
This program is for Tweens & Teens, ages 10 to 18. Our first program will be on April 5th from 4-5pm (can be late for those in school until 4pm), and we will discuss textile waste, followed by sketching out our designs. Our programs on April 12th and April 26th from 4-5pm will be for our youth to physically make their designs. The library will have lots of recycled material on hand, but you are encouraged to bring in extra material. Additionally, you can work on your masterpiece outside of the library as well. On April 27th, all participants who want to be in the Upcycled Fashion Show will need to be here by 2pm for dress rehearsal. You can be the model for your own work or have someone else be the model for your work (maybe even a parent). There will also be photo release forms so we can promote your art on social media, and help put you on the map. There may even be local businesses at the Upcycled Fashion Show!
We will also be accepting clothing donations during the Upcycled Fashion Show that will be recycled or donated later.
