Each page (entry, picture-and-description) within the overall exhibit is added as its own “Exhibit” post.  There are three steps to create each Exhibit-post:

  • Type the description
  • Add the Featured Image
  • Add the Category of the overall exhibit.  All posts for the same exhibit get the same category.

There are two optional extra steps:

  • If this post is to be the main identifying post of the exhibit, give it a Tag of “Cover” (for cover article).
  • If this entire exhibit is to be included in the Featured Exhibits on the Local History page, add the Tag of “Feature” (for featured exhibit) to  the Cover article.

No other posts in the exhibit need any category or tag other than the main one for the exhibit.  All posts within that category will act together to form the full exhibit.

Multiple existing exhibits (with their Exhibit-posts, one of which is Tagged as “Cover” and all with the same exhibit Category) can be combined underneath a parent “Meta Exhibit”.

The first step is to add the Meta-Exhibit post and matching Category.

  • Type the description.
  • Add the Featured Image.
  • Add a Category with the same name as the Meta post.
  • If this Meta is to be on the Featured Exhibit page, give it a Tag of “Feature”.

Next, go to the list of Categories.

  • For each exhibit to be included in the Meta, edit that Category.  Tell it that it has a “parent” category: the one associated with the Meta post.
    • You can double-check when finished: The categories will be displayed as an outline, with the individual exhibits indented below the Meta.

That’s all there is to it.  Now, opening the Meta post will display the cover articles for each “child” exhibit.  From there, opening the child will behave exactly the same as a stand-alone, non-meta exhibit.
