The program kicks off May 24 and will run through July 30, 2021. Activities include reading books, crafting, performing STEAM experiments, participating in book discussions, getting a library card, and more! Register online by visiting:

Everyone who registers gets a free book and a Welcome Back Chatt Pack, which can be picked up at any open Chattanooga Public Library Branch via curbside or indoors while browsing. Packs include a lanyard for the buttons you’ll earn when you complete challenges. Little ones ages 0-2 will receive a shaker egg instead so they can shake along with our early learning programs!

To complete the MPRL 2021 Great Reading Adventure:

Read 20 minutes a day for 70 days and complete our challenges to reach 2000 points and finish the MPRL 2021 Great Reading Adventure, OR complete the program by reading 2000 minutes this summer.  Pick up a button for your lanyard for every 200 points you complete.  Completers will receive a 3D printed “gold” medal and be entered into our end of summer prize drawings.

Check out our 2021 Summer Reading Picks Lists.

Reading in the summer helps build on the skills obtained during the school year so that learning continues into the next grade year. We hope the 2021 lists will help your family pick the best books for your students, grades K-12. These lists are supported by the Hamilton County Department of Education and have been delivered to all public school principals and librarians. Your library will also have a Chattanooga Basics booklist for kiddos too young to start school.

Happy Summer! We can’t wait to see you at the library!
